Post-Doctoral Fellow - Pathology

  • Remuneration: $113,911 base (+ 17% Superannuation and leave loading)

Why this role matters  

The Post-Doctoral Fellow will perform high end molecular and cellular biology laboratory work, providing scientific support to an NHMRC funded project in a mouse model acute lung injury and a collaborative microbiome project in stool samples collected from patients with autoimmune anterior uveitis and arthritis. The Post Doctoral Fellow will also use an existing humanised rat model to define mechanisms and contribute to the development of targeted therapeutic strategies.

Key skills required:

  • A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
  • Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake high quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision.
  • Experience with the following will be highly regarded: use of mice and rats including anesthesia; administration of drugs via multiple routes; monitoring, humane euthanasia; collection of bronchoalveolar lavage and ex-vivo inflation of lung tissue; processing of specialized tissue such as bones.
  • Experience in molecular and cell biology, Western blots, multiplex ELISA, histology and recombinant protein production.
  • Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
