The Clinical Psychologist is based at the UNSW Traumatic Stress Clinic and is responsible for conducting assessment and treatment of clients, while also supervising research assistants in the clinic. The UNSW Traumatic Stress Clinic is a university-based treatment and research clinic that conducts clinical trials on posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and prolonged grief disorder.

About the role

• $123k - $138k plus 17% Superannuation and annual leave loading
• Fixed Term – 2 Years
• Part time (22.5 hours)

The role reports to the UNSW Traumatic Stress Clinic Director and has no direct reports.

Specific responsibilities for this role include: 

• Ensure the provision of high-quality assessment, treatment and management of clients in the care of the UNSW Traumatic Stress Clinic, with oversight of caseloads of provisional psychologists.
• Supervise research assistants at the UNSW Traumatic Stress Clinic.
• Review and co-sign client related clinical documentation prepared by psychologists.
• Evaluate competency and skills development of psychologists and research assistants, providing feedback and guidance to support learning and training opportunities.
• Provide learning opportunities and training support to trainee psychologists within the Clinic.
• Participate in and contribute to relevant quality improvement programs and governance meetings associated with the UNSW Traumatic Stress Clinic.
• Participate in development of research studies and execution of studies within the UNSW Traumatic Stress Clinic.
• Demonstrate effective problem-solving to enhance the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of services provided within the clinic to clients.
• Adhere to privacy, confidentiality and other professional and ethical requirements defined by UNSW policy, State and Federal legislation, registration bodies (AHPRA) and professional standards defined by Psychologists Board of Australia and professional associations (APS).
• Ensure high levels of professional and ethical standards are adhered to within the UNSW Traumatic Stress Clinic.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to work collaboratively within and across multidisciplinary teams.
• Align with and actively demonstrate the Code of Conduct and Values.
• Ensure hazards and risks psychosocial and physical are identified and controlled for tasks, projects, and activities that pose a health and safety risk within your area of responsibility.

About the successful applicant
(Selection Criteria)

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Completion of postgraduate level Clinical Psychology training accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (or international equivalent).
• Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Psychologist with endorsement in the area of Clinical Psychology.
• Demonstrated clinical experience post qualification.
• Demonstrated experience in assessment and treatment of PTSD.
• Sound stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, flexibly, and productively within a team, collaborating across disciplines and building effective relationships, and to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
• Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders.
• An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
• Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
