The Opportunity
- Shape and manage the disclosure pipeline to support commercialisation of cutting-edge research
- $100,354-$107,054 (rising to $103,866 - $110,801 from July 2025) plus 17% super
- Full-time (35 hours week), 2-year fixed term contract
The IP Research Analyst supports the Industry and Innovation team by providing insights through IP data analysis, managing the disclosure pipeline, and conducting patent searches to inform commercialisation decisions. The role ensures the integrity and usefulness of IP-related data to guide IP strategy formulation, supports the early assessment of invention disclosures, and delivers prior art and landscape analysis to strengthen IP filings and identify commercial opportunities.
The role report to Commercialisation Operations Manager and has no direct reports.

Who you are
You have a degree in a relevant discipline such as STEM (e.g. Life Sciences, Engineering, Chemistry), Business or Technology Management that supports commercial analysis or strategic reporting in a research or IP context, and can demonstrate the following Skills and Experience:
- Experience in a university TTO, Patent Office, or R&D environment.
- Patent search tools and databases (e.g. Espacenet, Derwent).
- Strong Excel skills and familiarity with reporting/dashboard tools (e.g., Power BI).
- IP management systems (e.g., Sophia, Inteum) and CRM platforms.
- Attention to detail and experience in data management or systems administration.
- Knowledge of commercialisation processes and innovation lifecycle (e.g., invention disclosure, patent filing, licensing).
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities
