Why your role matters
We are seeking a Senior Project Officer to support the Nexus Program within the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Education Portfolio. This position is central to ensuring the smooth and effective delivery of the Nexus team’s projects and operations by providing high-level project management and program support. The role involves creating and managing communications, developing and maintaining strong relationships across internal and external stakeholders, and contributing to the design and implementation of key programs and initiatives.
In addition, the Senior Project Officer will support reporting activities and provide analytical insight to inform decision-making. This role reports to the Nexus Program and Change Manager and does not have any direct reports.
Additional accountabilities include:
- Provide a high level of proactive project administration and logistical support to the Nexus team and Nexus governance structures.
- Develop, manage and monitor effective communications with key stakeholders, both internal and external to the project.
- Provide event management support for on-campus and hybrid Nexus events and training.
- Oversee the development of Nexus project plans and schedules and support in planning processes as required.
About You:
- Relevant tertiary qualification with a depth of subsequent relevant experience in project or program management or an equivalent level of competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
- Advanced data and knowledge management skills – including the use of Excel, Word and SharePoint.
- An understanding of the project life cycle and development of project plans, objectives and documentation.
- Proven ability to drive collaboration and successfully manage competing priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
- Experience creating and managing content for websites, email newsletters, and digital platforms.
- Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
Desirable
- Experience working in higher education or academic contexts.
- Experience working within brand guidelines to maintain consistent messaging and visual identity across communications.
- Experience with PowerBI and Project Management Software.
- Experience in managing large events.
