Post-Doctoral Fellow (Oocyte and ovarian biology)

  • Employment Type: Full - time (35 hours a week)
  • Duration: 3 Year Fixed Term position  
  • Remuneration: $123,620 base (+ 17% Super, leave loading)
  • Location: Kensington, Sydney.  

Why this role matters

The position will undertake innovative research in the field of oocyte and ovarian biology, with the overall objectives of defining new mechanisms regulating female fertility and developing new fertility treatments for infertile and cancer patients. The research will focus on the mechanisms mediating oocyte-somatic cell communication and the determinants of oocyte quality, including in the context of reproductive ageing. A focus on cellular and molecular biology techniques will be employed using animal models and human tissues.

Some key skills required: 

  • A PhD in cell biology, developmental biology, molecular biology, reproductive biology or a related discipline with a minimum of five years post-doctoral research experience.
  • Experience in the fields of reproductive biology, reproductive medicine, cell metabolism, and/or cell-cell communication an advantage.
  • Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Demonstrated track record in research with outcomes of high quality and high impact with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence as well as the capacity for research leadership.
  • A track record of significant involvement with the profession and/or industry.
