The Senior Project Manager – Cyber is responsible for delivering projects within the University’s Cyber Security Enablement Program, a multi-year initiative aimed at significantly reducing the University's cyber security risk through technology and business improvements. The primary focus of the role is to manage and successfully deliver multiple projects, particularly within the Identity and Access Management (IAM) programs, implementing strategic IAM solutions that align with the University’s 2023 IAM Strategy and broader business and technology objectives. Reporting to and receiving guidance from the Program Manager and Program Director, the Senior Project Manager will engage extensively with senior stakeholders across the University, exercising a high degree of personal responsibility and autonomy to achieve the program's objectives and agreed project scope.
Specific accountabilities for this role include:
- Plan, lead and manage ICT projects, which form a part of a wider program of work (typically projects assigned at this level would be of some complexity, working across several systems and delivering up to a core strategy).
- Ensuring the successful delivery of IAM projects on time, within scope, and budget, aligned with the organization's broader IT and business strategies.
- Defining, managing, and controlling the project scope and requirements, ensuring all solutions meet security, compliance, and organizational standards.
- Consistent and professional delivery of projects, exceeding stakeholder expectations through the application of stakeholder management principals and sound governance.
- Develop and then maintain the project plan, schedule, tasks and resource requirements against timelines.
- Manage and engage staff assigned to project teams to drive a strong customer centric culture and healthy engagement within the organisation.
- Managing changes in project scope, timelines, and deliverables effectively while minimizing disruption to the business.
- Review and monitor the performance and status of all assigned projects and address any concerns or issues that may impact on the successful delivery of the project to the business area.
- Identifying, mitigating, and resolving risks and issues related to the project, ensuring the security and integrity of access controls.
- Develop effective working relationship with internal and external stakeholders to develop innovative solutions that meet business needs.

- Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health & safety of yourself or others.
skills and experience
- Significant experience in managing multiple projects through the complete project lifecycle, and in particular, the delivery of major initiatives including:
- Identity and Access Management
- Identity Governance and Administration
- Zero-Trust Security
- Hybrid security operations
- Strong leadership and effective people management skills, with experience in building effective / high performing teams along with developing and retaining staff.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills. Able to develop effective relationships and influence key stakeholders at all levels in the organisation.
- Proven ability to exercise independent judgement and problem solving with the ability to resolve and address issues as they arise.
- Relevant tertiary qualification and significant experience as an IT/Cyber Project Manager and/or an IT Solution Delivery Manager utilising a formal Project Management methodology, such as PRINCE2 or PMBOK and/or Agile.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
- Experience in the University and/or Higher Education sector would be highly advantageous.
