The Opportunity

  • $110,073 - $119,132 (depending on exp.) + 17% super + leave loading
  • Continuing (permanent) role
  • Full-time (35 hours week)

The Pro-Vice-Chancellor Research Infrastructure (PVCRI) portfolio includes several centrally managed experimental research facilities, namely Research Imaging NSW (RINSW), Research Technology Services (ResTech), Animal Services and the Mark Wainwright Analytical Centre (MWAC). In addition, the PVCRI supports broader initiatives, particularly in medicine, engineering and science both within UNSW and through external partnerships and networks.

The Research Infrastructure Support Officer provides high level operational support to the PVCRI team with a focus on the various infrastructure funding schemes which are supported through the PVCRI office, such as the UNSW Research Infrastructure Scheme, the UNSW 3Rs Grant Scheme and ARC LIEF. You’ll also provide high level support to the establishment, implementation and maintenance of quality management systems and processes. In addition, the Research Infrastructure Support Officer will promote the services provided by the PVCRI portfolio by managing communications, websites and organising showcase events. The role will work with key stakeholders across PVCRI, most notably MWAC, Animal Services, ResTech and RINSW as well as the Faculties. The Support Officer reports to the Program Manager, Research Infrastructure, and has no direct reports.

Who you are

You have a relevant tertiary qualification and or experience, as well as: -

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with proven attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Ability to plan, organise and co-ordinate projects and tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to develop and sustain relationships and to work collaboratively and effectively with staff and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated work ethic and initiative, commitment to continuous improvement, openness to new ideas and creative approaches to problem solving in complex settings with a focus on delivering outcomes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
  • Understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
  • Relevant experience in a shared research infrastructure environment would be highly desirable.
