The primary purpose of the Enterprise Architect - Integration is to lead the development of target state architecture and strategy for seamless integration of various systems for specific business or technology domains. The role will lead the development of policies, standards, frameworks and architectural roadmaps to guide the planning, selection, design and implementation of Integration solutions, and will also support IT governance. The role will play a crucial role in designing and implementing complex integration solutions within UNSW.

Specific accountabilities for this role include:

  • Lead development of integration strategies and design of E2E architectures that facilitate the seamless connection of various systems, applications, and technologies within enterprise environments including multi-cloud environments (eg AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid cloud environments (SaaS, PaaS with On Prem/ environments).
  • Define integration standards, best practices, and governance frameworks to ensure consistency, compliance, and efficient management of integration solutions and patterns across an enterprise.
  • Identifying options available for various integration patterns and recommend best suited options for each of the identified patterns along with appropriate justification to support them.
  • Lead development of guidelines for usage of appropriate integration options for modern integration patterns, such as event-driven architectures, serverless computing, and API gateways.
  • Design, implement, and manage microservices-based integration solutions.
  • Establish and maintain an API register, control of lifecycle, documenting all APIs and interfaces, Define guidelines for API naming conventions and versioning, and documentation. Collaborate with development teams to ensure APIs are well-documented and accessible.
  • Communicate and influence senior stakeholders to translate requirements and seek buy in on the integration target state and roadmap.
  • Assess and select appropriate integration technologies, platforms, and tools to support the integration architecture and contributing to IT governance processes and decision-making.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices related to contemporary integration styles.
  • Identify potential risks and security threats related to integration processes and implementing measures to mitigate these risks, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Align with and actively demonstrate the UNSW Values in Action: Our Behaviours and the UNSW Code of Conduct.
  • Ensure hazards and risks psychosocial and physical are identified and controlled for tasks, projects, and activities that pose a health and safety risk within your area of responsibility.

Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field or equivalent service experience providing architecture and consulting.
  • Desirable - higher education or similar corporate architecture experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with integration of Enterprise applications such as CRM, HCM, Oracle Peoplesoft etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation and negotiation skills, with the ability to structure and articulate messages to different audiences at all levels.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of integration architecture and with technologies like Azure Integration Services, Managed File Transfer, ETL/ELT, Batch, streaming, API Gateway, SQL, RDBMS etc.
  • Demonstrated experience with Enterprise Orchestration capabilities, failure and recovery handling, exception handling strategy etc.  
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training
