  • Remuneration: Level 8 $127,351 - $143,489 (depending on experience) + 17% super + leave loading

Why Your Role Matters

As the Senior Project & Policy Officer, you will lead strategic initiatives across the Division of Operations, with a major focus on delivering the University’s Policy Transformation Project.
Working with teams across Enterprise Data, Portfolio Management, Estate Management, Finance, UNSW IT and People & Culture, you’ll help simplify processes, uplift governance, and create clear, accessible policies that support our staff and students.
This role reports to the Operations Manager and has no direct reports, offering the opportunity to influence outcomes and drive change through collaboration and expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage Division of Operations projects that support UNSW’s strategic and operational goals.
  • Oversee project planning, coordination, delivery and evaluation, ensuring high-quality outcomes and documentation.
  • Champion the transformation of the UNSW Policy Framework, improving clarity, accessibility and user experience.
  • Work closely with subject matter experts to shape and refine policies aligned with best practice and organisational priorities.
  • Guide and support governance processes, policies and procedures across the Division.
  • Ensure all initiatives adhere to UNSW’s governance pathways and project management standards.
  • Develop clear, compelling governance papers, briefings and presentations for senior leadership.
  • Drive effective stakeholder engagement and communication across diverse groups.

Who You Are

You’ll thrive in this role if you are:

  • Tertiary qualified, with relevant experience in project or policy roles (or equivalent skills gained through experience).
  • An experienced project manager who understands the full project life cycle and can deliver coordinated, well-planned initiatives.
  • A strong collaborator who builds productive relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • An excellent communicator, able to craft clear, engaging and plain-language documentation.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and adapt to changing demands.
  • Confident working independently while contributing positively to team goals and shared outcomes.
