Project Manager

  • Employment Type: Part - time (21 hours a week)
  • Duration: Fixed Term contract until 31st May 2026
  • Remuneration: $127,351 base pro-rata, plus 17% superannuation and leave loading

The School of Optometry & Vision Science aims to advance vision and eye health in society through world-class, innovative, multidisciplinary education and research. Details of the role

A Project Manager plays a lead role within the Faculty of Medicine and Health in the planning, development and implementation of projects across the School of Optometry and Vision Science (SOVS). The role entails developing project planning documentation, identifying and building appropriate project teams and initiating and overseeing the project, including managing all stakeholder engagement and quality assurance.

The role reports to the SOVS Director of Teaching and has no direct reports. 

Some key skills required:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Manage adherence to UNSW governance pathways to ensure projects are managed within a defined, consistent and proven set of rules for project development and implementation.
  • Partner with the Project Team and key stakeholders to monitor and report on progress of projects; and identify problems and propose possible solutions.
  • Oversee and finalise effective communications with key stakeholders, both internal and external to the project.
  • Consolidate, analyse and report input from all teaching content streams including identifying overlapping teaching content.
  • Prepare application documents or summary reports related to the proposed curriculum change for OCANZ approval.
  • Proven project management experience, with an in-depth understanding of the project life cycle and strategic development of project plans, objectives and documentation.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.

Desirable:

  • Registered optometrist or health professional in Australia.
  • Previous experience of health program accreditation.
  • Previous experience in teaching and learning design, development and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
