About this role and why it matters
The Division of Societal Impact, Equity and Engagement (SIEE) is responsible for supporting a diverse and inclusive staff and student community at UNSW and working with partners and broader society towards positive change. The Division of Societal Impact, Equity and Engagement is also responsible for several KPIs for staff and student equity.
The Senior Diversity & Inclusion Officer will manage the development and implementation a range of initiatives to support a diverse and inclusive student and staff culture at UNSW.
This a new role, and we are seeking a candidate with subject matter expertise in developing programs and initiatives focussed on cultural inclusion, anti-racism and/or religious inclusion. The role will also work on other diversity and inclusion initiatives across a range of areas including gender equity, disability inclusion and accessibility, campus and workplace culture, LGBTQIA+ inclusion, and workplace flexibility.
This position reports to the Diversity & Inclusion Manager and has no direct reports. The role is full time ongoing.
Main overall responsibilities summary

Manage diversity and inclusion initiatives and projects ensuring alignment to relevant university and divisional strategies and action plans, and clear objectives, timelines, deliverables, and resource allocation

Contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of diversity and inclusion initiatives and projects, enabling internal and external reporting and benchmarking requirements

Support effective engagement in key diversity and inclusion strategic priorities associated programs of work through acting drafting communications, liaising with stakeholders, contributing to and coordinating working groups

Provide up to date and informed advice, reporting, benchmarking and comparative analyses of best practice approaches to inform strategic priorities, recommendations for action and communicate progress

Contribute to the development and delivery of diversity and inclusion training, relevant policy and procedure reviews, and stakeholder consultation practices

Build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders and staff to enable productive partnership across the diversity and inclusion work area
Who You Are
We are looking for someone who is aligned with UNSW’s vision and values and comes with:

Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of Diversity & Inclusion strategies, and programs of work in a large, complex organisation, with subject matter expertise in cultural inclusion, anti-racism and/or religious inclusion

Successful experience project managing and delivering institutional-wide projects within agreed timeframes

High level communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills with the ability to build key relationships, influence outcomes, and work positively with people from a diversity of backgrounds, both from within and outside the university community

Strong data analysis skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions and experience in the preparation of reports to internal stakeholders (including senior management) and external agencies

Lived experiences of race-based discrimination are relevant to this role

Willingness and ability to quickly develop subject matter expertise in additional areas of Diversity & Inclusion as needed
