The Business Optimisation Strategy (BOS) is a key initiative aimed at improving service delivery, increasing productivity, compliance, and reducing risk through strong technology foundations.

In 2025, BOS is entering its planning phase, and a unique opportunity has arisen for a Senior Business Analyst with ERP/ESM experience and business case development expertise to join the team early in this transformative program for an initial 12 month contract. The role will initially focus on feasibility and commercial establishment, then transition into implementation planning and other delivery tasks.

About the Role

The Senior Business Analyst will work across the organisation to identify requirements, analyse, design, and implement solutions related to ESM and ERP systems. Acting as a liaison between business stakeholders, IT teams, and vendors, the analyst will ensure that business needs are translated into system functionality and solutions that align with organisational goals. They will also develop supporting documentation and help guide the transition from the current to future operating model.

Reporting to the BOS Program Director, the Senior Business Analyst will collaborate with other senior BAs, SMEs, and IT roles, providing strategic support for the BOS Program.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the Development of Business Case and take ownership of the creation of comprehensive business cases for ESM and ERP system implementations or upgrades, considering cost, time, and resource requirements.
  • Lead a design and review of the functions and activities of the BOS program and their alignment with the objectives of the BOS Program to identify a future operating model for the University’s Operations function for HR, Finance and IT.
  • Participate in the delivery of BOS initiatives as directed to achieve operational and strategic goals and contribute effectively as a member of the BOS Program team.
  • Lead and provide recommendations to improve practices and processes that contribute to a culture of continuous improvement (via business case, implementation, operating model, reporting and presentation forums).
  • Proactively identify related opportunities across university strategic initiatives and coordinate and communicate with key stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes.
  • Drive discovery practises through information gathering and business analysis for programs of work benchmarking against and aligning with best practise.
  • Lead, support, coach and drive a team of project resources (BA’s, PM, SMEs, IT and vendors) throughout the project lifecycle.

About You

  • Demonstrated experience in the development of a Business Case.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying lean six sigma skills (Certification desirable).
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance or a related field, and has or is pursuing Certified Practitioner in Business Analysis (IIBA or PMP), or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through education/training/experience.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Proven advanced experience conducting operating model reviews, and the strategic development of project plans, objectives and documentation.
  • Excellent consultation, influencing and negotiation skills and proven ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and proven capacity to exercise initiative, flexibility and to be proactive in development of robust solutions to problems.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
  • Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively on initiatives with a range of people at different levels within an organisation.
