Why Your Role Matters
As an HR Officer at UNSW Canberra, you will be a vital member of our dynamic HR team, delivering essential operational HR services and proactive customer service. Your role involves interpreting, implementing and administering the University’s HR policies and procedures whilst ensuring compliance. You will provide reliable HR reporting and drive continuous improvements, reporting to the HR Business Partner and collaborating closely with the HR Consultants. At Level 6, you will take on additional responsibilities, including providing expert advice on complex HR issues, mentoring new HR Officers and utilising HR data to support solution focussed recommendations. By contributing to the entire employee lifecycle, you will help shape a supportive and innovative HR environment, making a positive impact on our HR team and UNSW Canberra.
Who You Are (skills and experience):
Level 5
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or similar with at least 1-2 years’ experience in Human Resources.
- Sound understanding of contemporary HR practice, and experience in interpreting and applying relevant legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Ability to accurately draft and prepare HR related documentation.
- Understanding of various office software including email, word processing, spreadsheets and experience in using computerised HR systems.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop communicate confidently at all levels.
- Ability to set priorities and manage workflow independently within a high-volume and fast-paced environment.
Level 6 (in addition to the above)
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in HR at a graduate or postgraduate level with at least 3 years’ experience in an HR role.
- Demonstrated experience in providing a broad range of authoritative professional HR advice and assistance to a range of clients on complex HR policies and procedures.
- Proven experience in analysing and providing advice based on data and HR metrics, in line with business needs.
