Why this role matters:
The Wellness Support Advisor, Rural Clinical Campuses is responsible for the provision of wellbeing care services for UNSW rural students with social, emotional, health and wellbeing needs through triage, assessment and short solutions-based therapy.
The position holder works closely with the Faculty Wellbeing Officer and senior academic and professional staff at local Rural Clinical Campuses sites, as well as local services such as the Rural Adversity Mental Health Program (RAMPH) and other health professionals. The role will also liaise regularly with UNSW Central Services such as Mental Health Connect, Psychology and Wellness, Equitable Learning Service and Student Support Team, as well as the UNSW Medicine and Health academic community. This process will facilitate the critical role in supporting students through a positive wellbeing approach and enhancing the student experience.
In collaboration with the Manager, Rural Clinical Campuses, the position holder will develop a work schedule to ensure on-campus availability between Tuesday, Wednesday, and/or Thursday each week at the identified campus, and have a capacity to travel and attend Albury campus a minimum of once per month and other times as required.
The position reports to the Manager, Rural Clinical Campuses and has no direct reports.
Skills Required:
- Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant post qualifying experience in Psychology, Counselling, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, or Mental Health Nurse with registration or eligibility for registration with the appropriate accrediting body.
- Demonstrated experience working with individuals who have psychosocial support needs such as disabilities, mental health, and chronic physical health, and significant experience conducting psycho-social needs and risk assessments; and undertaking short term therapeutic interventions.
- Demonstrated understanding and ability to provide expert guidance and advice on a range of issues impacting student welfare, participation, retention and success within the higher education sector.
