The Strategy Office facilitates the implementation of the UNSW Strategy: Progress for All through effective planning, delivery and reporting aligned to the strategic vision. Working within the Office of the Provost, the team leads the development and execution of the strategic plan including the communications and engagement across the university, providing strategic foresights and research to inform strategic planning. The Strategy Office supports faculties and divisions in aligning with UNSW priorities, designs and drives flagship strategic initiatives, and monitors performance and progress toward achieving strategic objectives.

Why Your Role Matters

The Senior Project Officer plays an important role in project management of initiatives and events, communication and engagement with faculties and divisions to support the development and implementation of strategic programs and projects of the UNSW Strategy, aimed at raising the University's global profile and impact.

The role of Senior Project Officer reports to the Manager, Strategic Alliances and Initiatives and has no direct reports.
Responsibilities

  • Work with faculty and divisional leaders to design and establish initiatives under the UNSW Strategy: Progress for All.
  • Work with functional units to obtain updates and prepare reports on Strategy progress for University Leadership Team (ULT) and others to ensure project management.
  • Develop, implement, and manage specific projects, initiatives, or events for the UNSW Strategy Office in conjunction with the agreed business plans and KPIs.
  • Support university governance and management structures, liaising with other administrative units across UNSW and partner institutions to ensure projects are managed and delivered in a timely and effective manner, and aligned appropriately to UNSW processes.
  • Oversee the development of project plans and schedules and participate in planning processes as required.
  • Support alliance governance and management structures, liaising with other administrative units across UNSW and partner institutions to ensure projects are managed and delivered in a timely and effective manner, and aligned appropriately to UNSW processes.
  • Establish and maintain systems to manage projects and record information.
  • Contribute to and support the development of proposals, business cases, guidelines, and other business documents.
  • Provide high level administrative support to the Strategy Office including minute taking, travel and budget management, website maintenance.

Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline with subsequent relevant experience, or inequivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of relevant education, training and/or experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, including setting up systems for stakeholder engagement and communication, tracking and project reporting.
  • High level organisational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritise workloads to ensure timely delivery of tasks.
  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and sustain effective professional relationships with stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail and ability to prioritise and control workload with a positive sense of initiative.
  • Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision, show initiative and contribute positively to a team.
  • Proven ability to drive collaboration and successfully manage competing priorities.
