The UNSW IT Change Practice Team provide change management expertise and advice to project teams, uplifting the maturity of the design and implementation of change management initiatives across the IT investment portfolio and creating greater visibility of the level and impact of change within and across the University.
The Training Manager role supports the embedment of strategic and operational change across the UNSW technology delivery portfolio by ensuring UNSW staff and students have the ability to use new or improved technology in their day-to-day work. The primary role of the Training Manager is to conduct training needs analysis and subsequently design, develop and implement effective and appropriate training activities to maximise adoption of strategic, operational and technology change initiatives.
The Training Manager also supports the Director Engagement and Change in contributing to new approaches and frameworks for managing people-related changes and the impacts resulting from change programs, projects and other initiatives.
The role reports to the Director Change and Engagement and has no direct reports.
Specific accountabilities for this role include:
- Work closely with the technical SMEs and the change lead to understand the technology and the impacts associated with the change
- Conduct the training needs analysis
- Develop a fit for purpose training approach and develop a training strategy through analysis of the impacts of the proposed change.
- Develop best fit training collateral across multiple available channels and media
- Utilise an effective mix of traditional and digital media, tailoring to impacted stakeholders’ preferences where required.
- Produce high-quality training deliverables and ensure training activities are delivered within set timeframes.
- Consult and work collaboratively with key stakeholders, external vendors and utilise subject matter expertise to develop and deliver training deliverables.
- Actively seek feedback to help measure the effectiveness of stakeholder engagement
- Align with and actively demonstrate the UNSW Values in Action: Our Behaviours and the UNSW Code of Conduct.
- Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of yourself or others.
Skills and Experience:
- Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent extensive experience or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any combination of education, training, and experience.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering training plans to support organisational change.
- Demonstrated experience in distilling complex information into simple messages with the ability to tailor content for a variety of audiences.
- Knowledge of both traditional and modern training methods, such as mentoring, coachin, on the job or classroom training, e learning, workshops and simulations.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities to effectively manage training programs and collaborate with teams.
- Ability to work in a highly adaptable and consultative manner, working in a collaborative way to deliver the best outcomes.
- Proficiency in evaluating training program effectiveness and gathering feedback from participants to improve future sessions.
- Knowledge of change management principles, especially when implementing new training initiatives or processes.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to navigate through competing deadlines.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s goals, objectives, and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
- Experience providing training on systems and processes associated with Legal, Risk, Compliance and/or Safety (desirable)
