Why The Role Matters:

The Pathways to Politics Program for Women is a national program committed to fostering inclusive and diverse political participation by women (cis and trans). The Senior Project Officer, NSW Pathways to Politics for Women Program position will play a pivotal role in the program's strategic development, implementation, and overall success. The Senior Project Officer will work closely with the Program Director, Co-Director, stakeholders, and participants to ensure the program's continued growth and impact. This position will also provide general support to the Co-Directors of the Hub, and occasional ad hoc support for events of the Hub.

  • A relevant tertiary qualification with demonstrated experience in applying advanced theories and principles, or an equivalent level of knowledge and experience gained through any combination of education and training.
  • A performance-oriented approach with strong networking, interpersonal, stakeholder management and negotiation skills with an ability to influence a diverse range of stakeholders across all levels.
  • Strong project management, time management and organisational skills, including a proven ability to interpret circumstances, establish priorities, meet competing deadlines and achieve objectives with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated initiative, well-developed analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to provide reporting and advice to clients.
  • Proven record of developing successful education strategies, plans and curriculum whilst leading the implementation to deliver enhanced engagement within the program.
  • Extensive experience and ability to work constructively in a collaborative environment and evidenced capabilities to work flexibly.
  • Ability to apply judgement, creativity and flexibility to generate new and innovative ideas and approaches and to solve complex issues.
  • Extensive experience in time management and organisational skills, with the ability to navigate through competing deadlines on multiple high-impact projects while maintaining high quality outputs.

Accountabilities:

  • Collaborate with the Program Director and Co-Director to develop and implement the strategic vision for the Pathways to Politics for Women Program.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring the effective delivery of program activities and initiatives.
  • Support the Director, Co-Director and Program Advisory committee in organizing regular meetings and governance updates.
  • Support the Co-Directors of the Gender Equality Hub, in the organizing regular meetings and governance updates, as well as general Hub activities.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with the national PTP team, political leaders, government officials, and community organizations to enhance program visibility and support.
  • Explain the application and selection process to potential participants.
  • Work with the Director and Co-Director to shortlist and select participants.
  • Communicate with successful applicants to the program about selection decisions.
  • Provide guidance and support to program participants, fostering an inclusive and empowering learning environment.
  • Develop and implement mentorship and networking opportunities for program participants.
  • Work collaboratively with subject matter experts to enhance and update program curriculum to meet the evolving needs of women entering politics.
  • Ensure that program content is relevant, engaging, and aligned with best practices.
