  • Salary is $138- 151,744 plus 17% super and leave loading.
  • Kensington based [Hybrid working environment]

The primary purpose of the Senior IT Project Manager is management and successful delivery of multiple IT Infrastructure projects or programs of work. The role entails developing project planning documentation and project artefacts including supporting financials, risk registers and status reporting, building appropriate project teams and initiating and overseeing the project, including managing all stakeholder engagement and quality assurance, whilst ensuring alignment to the strategic direction of UNSW IT. This position will report to the Head of Sub-Domain and has no direct reports.

Accountabilities:

  • Oversight of multiple projects, initiatives and ideas including small works covering the different stages of the project lifecycle from idea, discovery, foundation, delivery and post implementation review, with guidance and support from Lead Project Managers and/or Program Manager as required.
  • Management of staff assigned to project teams responsible for delivering defined business objectives within a defined timeframe and budget.
  • Manage project dependencies, risks, issues, change requests and financials and work with the project team to ensure appropriate arrangements are in place.
  • Proactively lead and manage adherence to UNSW governance pathways to ensure projects are managed within a defined, consistent and proven set of rules for project development and implementation.
  • Provide strategic direction in leading the Project Team and key stakeholders, monitoring and reporting on the progress of projects; and identify problems and propose possible solutions.
  • Oversee and finalise effective communications with key stakeholders, both internal and external to the project Plan and provide influential input with stakeholders to achieve project outcomes.
  • Ensure quality technical solutions by appropriately defining, building, testing and transitioning capability to BAU support teams for UNSW customers.
  • Champion the need for IT standards to support high quality, low risk delivery outcomes.
  • Collaborate with both the customer and IT to ensure solutions to business problems and maintain alignment to the technology strategy.
  • Align with and actively demonstrate the UNSW Values in Action: Our Behaviours and the UNSW Code of Conduct.
  • Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of yourself or others.

Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and a minimum of 2-5 years relevant experience including certification and demonstrated experience as an IT Project Manager using a recognised delivery methodology.
  • Proven project management experience, with an in-depth understanding, of the project life cycle and strategic development of project plans, objectives and documentation.
  • Excellent consultation, influencing and negotiation skills and proven ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills and proven capacity to exercise initiative, flexibility and to be proactive in development of robust solutions to problems. 
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
  • Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively on initiatives with a range of people at different levels within an organization.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures.
  • High level of experience working across a range of technology and application projects.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
