Why your role matters

The Head of FS Digital Marketing Transformation will drive strategic initiatives to enhance the Future Student digital experience, positioning UNSW as the preferred choice for future students both locally and internationally. This role plays a key part in achieving enrolment targets across all cohorts and faculties while advancing UNSW’s commercial and societal impact objectives.

Working closely with the Associate Director of Strategy and Performance and the Director of Digital Experience, this position oversees the optimisation of UNSW’s marketing technology stack. By leveraging investments in Adobe and Sales CRM platforms, the role focuses on fostering deeper personalised engagement through advanced marketing, content, data, digital experience, and student recruitment capabilities.

Collaboration with stakeholders across Marketing, Digital Experience, and IT is central to this position, ensuring the successful execution of current programs, such as the Lead Management Program, and driving future strategic projects aligned with the Student Experience Roadmap. These efforts will support the development of UNSW’s Digital Experience Strategy and Roadmap, set for 2025.

The Head of FS Digital Marketing Transformation reports to the Associate Director of Strategy and Performance, works closely with the Director of Digital Experience, and manages one direct report.

Specific accountabilities for this role include:  

  • Provide strategic leadership and advice and lead the delivery of large, technical programs of work like the Lead Management Program.
  • Support the Director of Digital Experience in the development of the UNSW Digital Experience Strategy, defining roadmaps that support the delivery of key technology and data workstreams, and enable the team via robust training schemes and refining processes and ways of working to progress digital maturity.
  • Lead the delivery of UNSW’s’ digital experience transformation and leverage enterprise level investment through strategic initiatives of the Adobe Digital Marketing Technology platform and Sales CRM (MS Dynamics), ensuring alignment with parallel programs of work across the University.
  • Conduct horizon scanning to identify trends, opportunities and threats and incorporate findings to enhance UNSW’s digital presence in line with global best practice. 

About You:                        

  • A relevant degree with extensive experience or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training and experience.
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of digital sales and marketing performance levers, with the ability to align digital initiatives with business goals.
  • Proven experience in leading large technical digital transformation projects from inception to completion, with expertise in driving organisational change, managing resistance and building relationships with technology vendors and service providers.
  • Familiarity of agile methodologies to ensure flexibility and responsiveness in project executions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to articulate digital strategies, benefits and decisions to stakeholders, with proven ability to influence senior management and stakeholders as appropriate to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Ability to apply judgement, creativity and flexibility to generate new and innovative ideas and approaches and to solve complex problems.
  • Extensive experience working in a large, complex fast-paced organisation where conversion of prospective student interest is critical.
  • Sound leadership and strong people management skills, with demonstrated experience in managing direct and non-direct reports.
  • Experience implementing or using a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, ideally Microsoft Dynamics or Salesforce.
  • Extensive experience and understanding of digital marketing automation tools (Adobe technology stack), analytics (Adobe Analytics), business performance reporting and visualisation (Power BI) and other relevant tools.
