The Opportunity
The School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications at UNSW has an opportunity for a Software Engineer to support the Software Defined Networking (SDN) Lab. In this key role you will implement project ideas practically to showcase outcomes to key stakeholders. The role involves software engineering to develop working prototypes, demonstrate and communicate practical results, provide analytical and reporting support, and maintain crucial internal and external relationships for project success.
This position reports Professor Vijay Sivaraman and has no direct reports
- Salary, Level 6: $100,354 to $107,054 per annum + 17% superannuation
- Full time

Skills and Experience
- An undergraduate degree in computing / mathematics / electronics engineering, coupled with some relevant software development experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
- Stakeholder management skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders.
- Experience working with a range of computer systems and applications, including GoLang and Python for programming.
- Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
