Why this role matters:
The Accredited Exercise Physiologist will provide exercise physiology services at Addison Road Community Centre, primarily supporting individuals from refugee, asylum seeker, and culturally diverse backgrounds, as well as those experiencing social disadvantage. This role involves working within a multidisciplinary team of clinical researchers to deliver exercise and physical activity interventions aimed at enhancing participants' wellbeing and lifestyle. The position will also contribute to research projects focused on these community-based health initiatives.
The Accredited Exercise Physiologist will report to the Scientia Associate Professor and has no direct reports.
Skills Required:
- Degree in Exercise Physiology or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
- Hold Accreditation from Exercise and Sport Science Australia (ESSA) with at least 1-year subsequent relevant experience.
- Experience preferred in evidence-based exercise prescription for people with lived experience of mental health issues and working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations.
- Previous research support experience preferred including data collection and analysis.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills including demonstrated capacity to maintain effective professional relationships with a variety of stakeholders and from diverse backgrounds.
- Proven ability to be self-directed and work in a multidisciplinary team.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
