The Senior Business Partner is a key advisor to the Faculty/Division leadership team, supporting the development of the Faculty/Division IT strategy and the IT technology roadmap. The Senior Business Partner is a strong leader and facilitator. They work with the Faculty/ Domain and collaboratively with the Enterprise Architecture team to clearly understand its IT priorities and ensures that these priorities are taken into consideration during the IT Portfolio Board prioritisation. The Senior Business Partner works with key stakeholders to understand their IT requirements and to communicate the IT product and service catalogue, clearly stating which enterprise solutions will support their IT requirements for future growth The Senior Business Partner works with the both the Faculty/Division and internally in IT to develop the Operational Level Agreement (OLA), ensures and monitors that operational services are maintained, constantly reviews CASD reporting to identify key technology service issues and is constantly updated the FEDs or other key stakeholders in the Faculty/ Division on the resolution plans for key technology issues. The Senior Business Partner acts as a champion for the Faculty/ Division at technology forums as well as through the process of technology prioritisation. The role of the Senior Business Partner reports to the Lead Business Partner and has no direct reports.
Specific accountabilities for this role include:
- Engage with all of the key stakeholders to support the development of the Faculty/ Division IT strategy and prioritised technology roadmap.
- Engage with the Faculty/ Division to communicate the Enterprise level IT products and services catalogue. Working with the business to identify which products and services would be suitable for the running of their area.
- Work with Faculty/ Division leadership team to identify technology innovations that can drive value and provide advice and recommendations on the future state roadmap.
- When required attend Faculty/ Division leadership team meetings, having a seat at the table and provide IT strategic advice, support and guidance.
- Work closely with key stakeholders e.g., Faculty Executive Directors, Heads of School and School Managers to embed the IT service model.
- Report monthly via a detailed Faculty/ Division business report on key IT deliverables, such as: o Current projects in flight and their achievements, risks and issues o Report on service management metrics and undertake service improvement opportunities in areas including service request, change, and incident management o Updates on number of calls within service management, the severity of these calls and the proposed OLA o Updates on strategic vendor contracts and spend to date o Update on Faculty/ Division total cost of ownership, recharge costs and ad hoc project costing o Update on IT asset management across the Faculty/ Division understand the total OPEX versus Capex cost to serve o Provide updates on ‘What’s New’ in the IT Centre of Excellence – Cyber, Digital, etc
- In conjunction with the Director and other IT Managers , set, operate, monitor and evaluate the strategic and annual objectives for the team.
- Work with Portfolio Executives to report a clear picture of the overall Academic, Research & Education portfolio for IT. Communicate where in the portfolio of projects the Faculty/ Division build and development will occur and be delivered.
- Ensure UNSW Service Catalogue is aligned with stakeholder needs, advocate and provide feedback to product owners on the needs of the stakeholders.
- Work with stakeholders to negotiate the Operational Level Agreements for IT Services.
- Provide oversight to Faculty/ Division projects to ensure that integrity of operational services is maintained.
- Act as the Faculty/ Division representative to the Change Advisory Board (CAB), Customer Service Forum and other operational forums.
- Own the resolution of escalated issues across service delivery teams for the portfolio and communicating status and ultimate resolution
- Be responsible for the development of standard operating procedures, process methodology, technology models and the centre of excellence knowledge content for strategy development, execution and business partnering.
- Work with IT and other experts across UNSW to support the development of future technology forums and create technology communities of practice for further sharing and innovation of technology disruptors.
- Build and maintain strong, trusted and collaborative relationships and harness communication between the Faculty/ Division and IT to drive improvements in customer service satisfaction, aligned goals, objectives and outcomes.
- Ensure hazards and risks are identified and controlled for tasks, projects and activities that pose a health and safety risk within your area of responsibility.

- Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health & safety of yourself or others.
Who you are:
- Tertiary qualification with significant experience in technology related roles, specifically related to Strategy Development, Enterprise Architecture, major technology release management and major technology program management.
- Demonstrated leadership and stakeholder management at senior leadership levels and in complex matrix environments.
- Strong experience leading and motivating a team of IT professionals to deliver the key customer requirements in line with the IT service model.
- Solution focused with the ability to demonstrate high levels of negotiation and consultation expertise.
- Experience working with, presenting to and negotiating with stakeholders and Portfolio Executives communicating and reporting overall IT portfolios with senior stakeholders.
- High level of communication skills with customer experience required for negotiating and aligning with stakeholder needs regarding IT service offerings and project deliverables.
- Demonstrated ability to build effective reports that articulate the current state of actual, delivery, future requirements, risk and issues and financial tracking including Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
- Experience overseeing projects while maintaining integrity of operational services.
- Experience leading the resolution of escalated issues across service delivery teams and communicating with senior stakeholders through to the resolution of issues.
- Experience developing standard operating procedures, process methodology, technology models and documentation related to strategy and business partnering.
- Experience developing technology forums and communities of practice.
- Experience building and maintaining strong, trusted and collaborative relationships with senior stakeholders.
