The Opportunity
The Graduate Research School supports Higher Degree Research candidates through all stages of their candidature, including commencement, research progress reviews, confirmation (for PhD candidates), candidature variations, thesis preparation, submission and all aspects of the examination process.
The Senior Project Officer provides high-level support for the delivery of operational and administrative processes, reporting systems, and strategic initiatives that serve the University’s Higher Degree by Research (HDR) community, working within the Division of Research and Enterprise and the Graduate Research School.
The Senior Project Officer reports to the Manager, HDR Engagement, supporting the Pro Vice-Chancellor Research Training (PVCRT) and Director of the Graduate Research School and has no direct reports.

Skills and Experience
You hold a relevant tertiary qualification and or experience and can demonstrate the following: -
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to prepare professional documentation for a range of audiences.
- Strong consultation, influencing and negotiation skills with demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Supporting senior leaders and/or managing projects and initiatives to deliver quality outcomes.
- Exceptional attention to detail in both written and analytical work, including proofreading and editing of project documentation.
- Time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
- Excellent understanding of the Higher Degree Research context including interpreting commonwealth legislation, policy and guidelines
- Working with a range of computer systems and applications, including Microsoft 365, Record management systems, Staff and Student systems, Power BI, government databases and datasets
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training
