The Opportunity

The Impact and Engagement Project Officer is responsible for providing high level support to the Senior Program Manager, Industry regarding development of industry engaged PhD projects and government reporting within the portfolio of the PVC Research Training. The role involves providing advice, support and other services to Higher Degree Research (HDR) candidates, academic supervisors, and external partners regarding the intersection of the HDR lifecycle and engagement with research end users including business, government, non-profit and community groups; to improve researcher outcomes and enhance researcher experience and overseeing crucial government reporting services. The role reports to the Senior Program Manager, Industry and has no direct reports.

About the successful applicant

You have a relevant tertiary qualification and or experience and can demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, and the ability to work well under pressure and manage tasks with competing deadlines.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to provide high-level customer service and foster positive professional working relationships
  • Ability to interpret and communicate complex policy and procedures to a broad range of stakeholders
  • Using large databases to process, extract and analyse data, and advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently
  • A track record in contributing ideas and implementing quality improvement initiatives.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
