The Opportunity
The Graduate Research School supports Higher Degree Research candidates through all stages of their candidature, including commencement, research progress reviews, confirmation (for PhD candidates), candidature variations, thesis preparation, submission and all aspects of the examination process.
You’ll play a key role in providing high level customer service and administrative support to the University’s Higher Degree Research (HDR) community within the Graduate Research School. Working in a small specialist team, you will respond to face-to-face, email and telephone enquiries from potential and existing HDR students.
The Organisation
The UNSW Graduate Research School (GRS) is the central unit responsible for HDR candidates and supervisors across the University. The GRS provides leadership, support and central administration for this cohort within the UNSW research community, as well as the research training leaders who work with them. This includes 3,000 higher degree researchers, 3,000 supervisors, over 65 Faculty Postgraduate Coordinators, seven Associate Deans (Research Training), and over 60 Faculty support staff.

Skills and Experience
You can demonstrate your high-level customer service skills and experience including:
- Outstanding time management and organisational skills, ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interpret complex policies, procedures and legislation in order to provide clear and accurate advice to diverse stakeholders
- Experience providing effective customer service and support to clients at all levels.
- Highly proficient computer literacy with excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to plan, organise and co-ordinate projects and tasks.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
