Why Your Role Matters:
The Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO) Centre of Excellent(CoE) team supports project and program delivery support, expertise and advice to project teams, uplifting the maturity of the design and implementation of change initiatives across the portfolio and creating greater visibility of the level and impact of change within and across the university.
The Senior Business Analyst will be assigned to the Canberra City Program, responsible for developing a new world-class research, education and innovation precinct on the east side of Canberra’s CBD. The role should have strong consulting experience and expertise in continuous improvement. The role should influence senior-level thinking and stakeholders at all levels and move clients to action. This role is undertaking business analysis activities for “In Scope” programs that will support the achievement of sustainable organisational, process and Strategic change. Some of the key responsibilities include needs analysis, gathering business requirements, data mapping, preparing solution design, the identification and mapping of ‘as is’ and ‘to be’ business processes, facilitating workshops and supporting the Project/Program Manager to deliver according to project timeframes.
The Senior Business Analyst reports to the Program Manager, dotted line into the Project Management lead with no direct reports.
Responsibilities Summary:
- Perform a lead role in driving process improvements, investigating, analysing, and documenting business processes and potential solutions that contribute to ongoing process standardisation, unification, and optimisation.
- Develop, evaluate, and select technology solutions, ensuring usability and alignment with business requirements, ensuring technical design fulfills business and functional requirements.
- Participate in building and executing process maps of ‘as is’ and ‘to be’ processes supported by facilitating stakeholder workshops.
- Identify and analyse core business processes and workflows and facilitate identification of business process issues and improvement opportunities.
- Establish effective working relationships with business users to identify requirements and develop user-friendly solutions.
- Provide training to end-users when required and create new training materials and guides.
- Provide mentoring, training and advice to other team members and customers with respect to business analysis as required.
- Proactively manage complex risks, issues, and financials, ensuring appropriate solutions are in place.

Skills and Experience Summary:
- Relevant tertiary qualification and demonstrated experience with business requirements analysis and business process analysis using the appropriate frameworks.
- Preferred Certified Practitioner in Business Analysis (IIBA or PMP).
- Demonstrated experience in applying lean six sigma skills. Certification desirable.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated lateral thinker - Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven facilitation skills (workshops with diverse groups including vendor, technical personnel and end users).
- Excellent time management and organisational skills and deliver according to project timeframes.
- Demonstrated experience working within a Faculty with a strong understanding of business processes within a tertiary education environment
- Strong background in finance, with the ability to analyse and manage financial data effectively
- Understanding of Business Analyst principles.
