The UNSW Institute for Climate Risk & Response (ICRR) brings together a unique blend of expertise in climate science, behavioural science, economics, finance, management, actuarial science, law and governance in order to help organisations come to grips with the challenges and opportunities presented by the climate change.

This appointment of a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (Climate Litigation) to the Institute will promote the achievement of these aims and objectives. Specifically, you will be integral to a program of research that will have significant impact in the scholarship related to the field of climate litigation in Australia and globally. You will apply and, where necessary adapt, existing research methods, and develop new methods, to the study of climate litigation.

 About the role 

  • Level B from $123,620 and Level C from $ 150,148 + 17% superannuation and annual leave loading
  • Full-time (35 hours per week)

 

This position is based in Kensington NSW Australia. The position reports to the Director of the ICRR and will maintain close research ties with the School of Private and Commercial Law in UNSW’s highly rated (12th globally in QS’24) Faculty of Law and Justice.

About the successful applicant (Selection Criteria) 

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A PhD in Law related to the principles, processes and practices of civil litigation and/or relevant litigation-related research experience within the discipline of Law. Prior experience in climate litigation specifically would be attractive but is not essential.
  • Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Demonstrated track record in research with outcomes of high quality and high impact with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence as well as the capacity for research leadership.
  • Experience in educational activities and/or outreach.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
  • Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills.
