Why your role matters

The Senior Project Officer is a key position within the Educational Excellence team within the Pro Vice-Chancellor Education (PVCE) Portfolio. This role involves working collaboratively and flexibly across multiple teams, including Academic Development, Education-Focused (EF) & Career Advancement, and Engagement. Responsibilities include overseeing the management of theTeaching Commons space, providing project officer support for EF Communities of Practice (CoPs), and offering assistance across the teams as required.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys working across diverse activities, and collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders and teams.

Additional accountabilities include:

  • Oversee the operational management and running of the Teaching Commons space, developing processes, maintaining systems, managing stakeholders, increasing engagement, and providing quality assurance.
  • Provide outstanding and responsive customer service and partner with key stakeholders across teams to deliver, monitor, evaluate, and provide ongoing reporting on the use of the spaces, scheduled activities, emerging themes and demand for services.
  • Contribute to the support of the Education Focussed Communities (CoPs) of Practice in the Education Focussed team, including organising workshops events, preparing and disseminating communications and materials relating to CoPs.

About You:  

  • Relevant qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing or supporting initiatives that create a vibrant program of activities catering to a specific audience.
  • Proven venue/program management experience, with a sound understanding of relevant processes, documentation and reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects, including advanced organisational skills, accuracy and attention to detail with proven ability to work according to strict deadlines and manage competing demands.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively across teams and taking initiative to work independently while managing competing demands.
  • Strong service orientation with excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain positive professional relationships with staff at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
  • A background in or knowledge in education or educational programs would be highly desirable.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
