Why Your Role Matters
You will join a high-performing interdisciplinary team with clear aims to bring innovations at the interface of artificial intelligence, social science and supply chain and logistics. This is an externally funded project – Australian Research Council Linkage Project.
You will develop new skills, work in high-performing teams that include computer scientists and supply chain and decision analytics scholars and use your creativity and technical skills to bring about societal impact. With this inter-school collaboration, you will have the opportunity to join with a hub of experts on AI, Cyber and Systems Engineers. The School of Systems & Computing is a vibrant place with key focus areas in computer science, cyber security, systems engineering, optimisation, and artificial intelligence.
Accountabilities
Under the direction of the project’s UNSW lead, the Research Associate will be involved in conducting the technical tasks of the project, primarily related to network optimisation, supply chain and logistics management, and heuristics decision-making. The role of Research Associate reports to the project’s UNSW lead and has no direct reports.
Who You Are (skills and experience):
- A PhD in Data Analytics, Optimisation, Computer Science or similar discipline in addition to demonstrated strong performance in research in the areas of Network Optimization and Modelling, Influence Maximization, supply chain management, supply chain analytics, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake high-quality academic research and conduct independent research, preferably in Network Optimization and supporting areas (e.g., skills in developing meta-heuristics algorithms with a proven record in publications in Q1 journals).
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills appropriate for interacting effectively with team members, collaborators and colleagues across the Faculty.
- A demonstrated ability to complete tasks within agreed time frames with suitable supervision.
