Why this role matters:

The Post-Doctoral Fellow (Level A) is expected to contribute towards the research effort of UNSW and to develop their research expertise through the pursuit of defined projects relevant to the exploration of the immune response in human samples and/or pre-clinical models.

Under the guidance of the Senior Lecturer, this role involves profiling immune responses using techniques such as flow cytometry of systemic and mucosal immune cell subsets, immune cell stimulation assays, and cell culture. The aim is to generate new knowledge and translational discoveries.

The position reports to the Senior Lecturer and does not have any direct reports.

Skills Required:

  • A PhD in a related discipline (Immunology), and/or relevant work experience.
  • Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake high quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations and awards relative to opportunity.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
  • Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
  • Ability to analyse and solve problems in a methodical and logical manner.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills and willingness to work as part of a team
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in experimental studies relevant to the exploration of the adaptive immune response in pre-clinical models
