Why Your Role Matters:
The Senior Research Associate/Post-Doctoral Fellow (Level B) will contribute to key research projects focused on HIV prevention, including PrEP, HIV testing, and STIs. The role involves coordinating and conducting advanced statistical analyses, managing large clinical and administrative datasets, and providing data management support across studies involving PrEP users and individuals at risk of HIV.
The successful candidate will act as the lead statistician, performing longitudinal analyses and contributing to the design of original research projects within the program. There will also be opportunities to develop novel statistical methodologies.
The Senior Research Associate position is within the Biobehavioural Prevention Research Group and reports to Associate Professor. This position has no direct reports.
Skills and Experience:
- A PhD in statistics, public health, epidemiology or related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience working in research on HIV, HIV prevention, blood-borne viruses, or sexually transmitted infections.
- Proven track record of high-level independent and collaborative research and data analysis skills in a related discipline.
- Evidence of high-level statistical analysis skills including capacity to conduct complex statistical modelling and cohort analyses, and knowledge of statistical software (e.g. Stata).
- Evidence of good project and time management skills including capacity to manage competing demands.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with non-statistical colleagues.
- Demonstrated track record in research with outcomes of high quality and high impact with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence as well as the capacity for research leadership.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
