The Engagement Officer plays a key role in increasing student engagement in professional development and career-focused initiatives. The role connects with UNSW communities to support and improve the student experience and partners with student groups across UG and PG cohorts. The role reports to the Engagement Manager, supporting the Career Accelerator and Student Engagement Team and has no direct reports.
Accountabilities:

- In collaboration with the Career Accelerator and Student Engagement Team, plan, develop and execute a community engagement strategy that will increase visibility, awareness and participation in Career Accelerator activities by students, industry and alumni.
- Partner with Business School clubs and societies across UG and PG cohorts to increase engagement with professional development and career-focused initiatives and support the clubs’ planning and delivery of events.
- Expand the community reach of the Career Accelerator & Student Engagement Team and foster engagement between clubs and societies and other groups within UNSW to reach new student audiences and underrepresented groups on campus.
- Collect data and report on trends for community engagement through online and offline forums, identifying trends and challenges, and implementing strategies to improve student engagement.
- Manage online communities to increase engagement in WIL and CDL programs and ensure compliance with UNSW standards.
- Work in collaboration with the Communications Officer to ensure continuity and consistency across channels and initiatives, including the sourcing of content for use across multiple platforms.
- Represent the Business School at relevant events, meetings and forums as required.
- Participate in other ad hoc projects as required, under the direction of the Engagement Manager.
Skills and Experience:
To be considered you will hold Australian Working Rights or Australian Citizenship. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.

- Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience, or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through a combination of education, training, or experience.
- Demonstrated ability to manage programs focused on specific and measurable outcomes that engage a range of stakeholders.
- Highly proficient computer literacy with excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications and experience working with social media platforms, marketing campaign software and data collection tools.
- Demonstrated superior interpersonal and written communication skills with a high level of attention to detail to initiate and maintain effective stakeholder relationships whilst exercising discretion and confidentiality.
- Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
- Ability to plan, organise and co-ordinate projects and tasks.
- Demonstrated experience providing effective customer service and support to clients at all levels.
