Why this role matters:
The National Centre of Excellence in Intellectual Disability Health (the Centre) is a major initiative supported by the Australian Government, Department of Health and Aged Care. The Centre’s purpose is to improve the health of people with intellectual disability.
The Digital Communications Officer plays a key role within the Centre’s Engagement Team contributing specialist expertise in digital communications. The role is responsible for the creating, updating and disseminating high quality engaging content for the Centres website, social media and email marketing campaigns and promotional materials.
The role reports to the Communications Lead and has no direct reports.
Skills Required:
- Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience
- Experience in the design, development, review and update of content including websites, e-marketing and social media campaigns as well as hard-copy collateral.
- Previous experience in video production, uploading videos to websites (such as YouTube) and use of CRM software and broadcast email software would be highly desirable.
- Demonstrated proficiency using a range of web 2.0 technologies and visual and graphic design tools, including, InDesign and Photoshop and SharePoint, proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of products.
- Strong understanding of Search Engine Optimisation principles and web analytics and demonstrated experience in HTML for content curation and troubleshooting (advanced level desirable).
- Excellent organisational, administration and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, establish priorities and meet deadlines, while maintaining excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively to deliver high quality work.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
