The Opportunity
The Executive Officer is a key member of the Marketing & Digital Experience team, responsible for delivering high-level executive and strategic support to the Executive Director, Marketing & Digital Experience, as well as other senior stakeholders. This dynamic role involves providing strategic guidance on governance structures to support effective decision-making and ensuring all activities align with UNSW compliance requirements.
As a trusted advisor and operational leader, the Executive Officer plays a vital role in shaping and delivering strategic and operational projects that contribute to the success of the Education and Societal Impact portfolios. The position reports to the Associate Director, Marketing & Digital Experience Strategy & Performance, and oversees two direct reports.
Specific accountabilities for this role include:
- Proactively advise, influence, and contribute to the business planning and objectives of the Marketing & Digital Experience team, whilst exercising discretion, initiative, and confidentiality at all times.
- Take a lead in strategic and operational projects aligned with the Education and Societal Impact portfolios and ensure the involvement of appropriate stakeholders. Monitor actions to ensure efficient follow-through, resolution, and closure of projects.
- Ensure the operations, strategies and businesses of the portfolio are consistent with the overarching strategy of the University and ensure that appropriate governance is followed in line with University policies.
- Manage ongoing performance, drive career conversations, and set priorities or KPIs of team.
Who you are
- Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
- A relevant tertiary qualification with extensive experience and/or extensive expertise working in a large, complex environment, or equivalent level of knowledge gained through any combination of education, training and/or experience.
- Proven skills and experience in strategic, workflow and resource planning within the higher education sector, goal setting and project management.
- Demonstrated success in designing and delivering strategies, programs, and initiatives across local and multiple international markets.
- Ability to lead, motivate and train team members, to establish priorities and manage competing deadlines for self and others.
- Excellent consultation, influencing and negotiation skills and proven ability to engage effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders, and high cultural sensitivity to communicate across multiple geographies.
- Outstanding organisational skills and demonstrated success in delivering projects in a relevant setting, often to tight deadlines, and the proven ability to deal with multiple tasks, establish priorities and meet strict and/or tight deadlines.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
- Advanced level of computer literacy, working with a range of computer systems and applications, including project management software and the Microsoft Office suite.
