The Organisation
The School of Health Sciences at UNSW is rapidly expanding to service education agendas based on our four ground-breaking health professional education programs. These programs will see the scope of our teaching effort broaden significantly and shape the future Health workforce in Australia and beyond.
Why this role matters
This position will make a significant contribution to educational excellence in the School of Health Sciences within the Faculty of Medicine and Health. The School teaches health professional programs across the disciplines of exercise, nutrition and dietetics, pharmacy and physiotherapy. This position will teach across the disciplines, into all health professional programs, specifically leading the development of our students in advocacy, innovation in healthcare and developing their careers across a broad scope of practice settings.
We are seeking a senior academic with a breadth of experience across practice and academia, to ensure our graduates are equipped to deliver effective and ethical person/community centred care, even in the face of obstacles in the workplace.
Some key skills required:
Level C
- Qualifications as a health professional recognised in Australia (preference may be given to applicants with qualifications in exercise, nutrition and dietetics, pharmacy or physiotherapy, but other professional backgrounds will be considered).
- A completed PhD in a health profession or related area
- Demonstrated experience in teaching advocacy, professionalism, continuing professional education, change management or related areas; especially interprofessional education
- Experience in professional practice within the disciplines across a breadth of practice areas, for example public health systems, private practice/primary care or commercial/industry experience
- Actively stays up to date with discipline knowledge and development, in discipline of qualification
- Significant experience in teaching and learning design using a range of pedagogical approaches, development and delivery of courses and programs, at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level
Level D (in addition to the above)
- Significant track record in research leadership with outcomes of high quality and high national/international impact with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve academic excellence and deliver academic leadership.
- Significant track record in attracting funding for research and/or learning and teaching initiatives
- Evidence of professional development of teaching practice in self and others with the ability to advance and lead an inclusive culture of excellence in learning and teaching.
- Record of recruiting and supervising high calibre research students
- Demonstrated leadership in building engagement and partnerships with the profession and industry
