Museum Education Officer (Museum of Human Disease)

  • Employment Type: Full - time (35 hours a week)
  • Duration: 2-Year Fixed Term
  • Remuneration: $100K - $107K base (+ 17% Superannuation and leave loading)
  • Visa: Full Australian working rights for the duration of the contract will be required
  • Location: Kensington campus, Sydney. 

Why this role matters  

A Museum Education Officer plays a key role within Medicine & Health, UNSW, to develop, support and deliver engaging educational programs for visitors to the Museum of Human Disease, including high school students, public visitors and UNSW community with an emphasis on human pathology, health, and disease prevention. The role reports to the Museum Team Leader and may have ad-hoc supervisory responsibilities.

Some key skills required 

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Proven ability to deliver education programs, with a focus on outreach and/or science communication programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop educational programs and resources in line with school science curriculums.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
  • Highly advanced interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with demonstrated capacity to engage a diverse audience.
