Why Your Role Matters:
The School of Social Sciences is an exceptional community of scholars who are at the forefront of a wide range of social science and humanities disciplines, including Development Studies, International Relations, Policy Studies, Politics and International Relations, Social Work, and Sociology. The School hosts the Gender Violence Research Network, the Globalisation and Governance Research Network, the Forced Migration Research Network and collaborates with the Centre for Social Research in Health and the Social Policy Research Centre (located within the Faculty). The School combines rigorous scholarship in the social science disciplines with effective engagement with key contemporary social issues, both locally and globally.
The school is currently seeking an Education-Focused scholar and teacher to contribute to our Social Sciences and Policy Studies teaching, commencing in January/February 2025. This is a 2-year fixed term Level B position. The successful applicant will contribute to the School’s undergraduate Social Sciences stream and postgraduate Public Policy and Governance Coursework Master Program.

Who You Are:
- A PhD or equivalent in a relevant area of study from a recognised institution and/or professional expertise and experience in policy-related contexts
- Demonstrated ability to teach diverse courses in both the undergraduate Social Sciences Stream and postgraduate Master of Public Policy and Governance program evidenced by:
- experience of, and/or willingness to contribute to teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level
- capacity to develop curriculum in areas of individual expertise
- Willingness to undertake supervision of Honours and Coursework thesis students
- Experience using educational technologies such as hybrid and online delivery methods
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence
- Capacity to contribute to administrative tasks in the School and Faculty, as well as to contribute to the interdisciplinary character of the School
- Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training and the completion of all on-line mandatory training modules.
