The Opportunity

The ARC Centre of Excellence for Carbon Science and Innovation (ARC COE-CSI) has an opportunity for two Research Associates. The ARC COE-CSI is led by UNSW and partners with a group of Australian universities and a suite of outstanding national and international partner organisations. The purpose of the ARC COE-CSI is to revolutionise carbon science and innovation for renewable energy generation and clean chemical production by using carbon catalysts as alternatives to critical minerals. In this role, you will contribute to the research efforts of the centre and develop your research expertise through the pursuit of defined projects relevant to your particular field of research.

This role reports to the Professor Liming Dai and has no direct reports.

  • Salary, Level A - $110,059 to $117,718 per annum + 17% superannuation
  • Full time
  • Fixed-term contract – Initially for one year with a possible extension
  • Location: Kensington – Sydney, Australia

Skills & Experience

  • A PhD in Chemistry or Materials Science and Engineering, and/or relevant work experience.
  • Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake high quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
  • Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
