Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor - Pharmaceutics

  • Remuneration: $150K - $197K base (+17% super and leave loading)
  • Location: Kensington, Sydney

The Organisation

The School of Health Sciences at UNSW is rapidly expanding to service education agendas based on our four ground-breaking health professional education programs. These programs will see the scope of our teaching effort broaden significantly and shape the future Health workforce in Australia and beyond. Our School offers programs in the disciplines of exercise, nutrition and dietetics, physiotherapy and pharmacy.

Why this role matters  

This position will conduct high quality research and make a significant contribution to educational excellence in the School of Health Sciences within the Faculty of Medicine and Health.

The appointee will be responsible for pharmaceutics and formulation science content development and delivery within the pharmacy curriculum in the School of Health Sciences Health Professional Programs. The position will build research capacity in the discipline of pharmacy and across the School of Health Sciences.

Key skills required:

Level C

  • A completed PhD in a related discipline (pharmaceutics or similar).
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching pharmaceutics including physicochemical principles, design, formulation, and manufacture of pharmaceutical dose forms.
  • Actively stays up to date with discipline knowledge and development, particularly regarding novel dose forms.
  • Significant experience in teaching and learning design using a range of pedagogical approaches, development and delivery of courses and programs, at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence and fostering this in others.
  • Evidence of professional development of teaching practice in self and others with the ability to advance and lead an inclusive culture of excellence in learning and teaching.
  • Demonstrated success in initiating curriculum development and improvement.
  • Demonstrated track record in research with outcomes of high quality and high impact with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence as well as the capacity for research leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience in the supervision of research students at Honours and higher degree level.
  • Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity diversity and inclusion initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to attract funding for research and learning and teaching initiatives.

Level D (In addition to Level C)

  • Significant track record in research leadership with outcomes of high quality and high international impact with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence and deliver research leadership.
  • Significant track record in attracting funding for research and/or learning and teaching initiatives.
  • Evidence of professional development of teaching practice in self and others with the ability to advance and lead an inclusive culture of excellence in learning and teaching.
  • Excellent record of recruiting and supervising high calibre students
  • Demonstrated leadership in building engagement and partnerships with the profession and industry.
