This role is based within our Design, Delivery and Development team, Estate Management (EM).
EM provide a range of services and advice to all Faculties and across UNSW’s sites. The division works to continually improve the physical environment of UNSW, a key resource that supports the University in achieving its aspiration to continuously improve its position as Australia’s leading research-intensive university globally.

Why Your Role Matters:
As Development Manager your role will support the roll-out of our Canberra City Campus master plan (16 buildings across 140,000 sqms) and will be working at the forefront of large- scale complex builds allowing us to expand our offerings in Canberra by delivering world class education, research and innovation within the Parliamentary Triangle.

Bringing your local industry knowledge and experience working with the National Capital Authority, you’ll be responsible for project identification, creation, and delivery across building and strategic assets within the University’s estate to align with UNSW and Estate Management strategic intent and objectives.

As an experienced Development Manager, you’ll work alongside our Head of Major Projects- Canberra and the Senior Manager, Development to engage both internal and external stakeholder through the end-to-end development process to articulate new project value add through the preparation of briefs, proposals and development management across planning, design, tender and construction phases.

Skills & Experience Summary: You’ll have proven track record in leading the development of major new build projects in complex in diverse operational environments and hold previous experience working with the National Capital Authority, alongside:

  • Confidence to operate strategically and operationally, articulating a clear vision, setting objectives and effectively navigate planning processes and delivery, end to end.
  • Significant knowledge and experience with complex and innovative planning and project management and safety requirements.
  • Ability to effectively manage and motivate a multidisciplinary team throughout all phases of multiple projects building strong relationships with stakeholders, partners, consultants, and contractors.
  • Proven experience in managing and delivering the tender process, contract negotiations, construction.
  • Highly organised and confident in cost management, ongoing financial monitoring and defects liability phases of projects.
