The UNSW Psychology Clinic is a university-based Psychology Clinic which provides training opportunities to postgraduate clinical psychology trainees whilst offering psychological assessment and treatment for a range of behavioural and emotional issues in adults and children.


About the role

  • $108k - $122k plus 17% Superannuation and annual leave loading
  • Fixed Term – 12 months
  • Part-time (14 hours per week)

The position of Clinical Psychologist will be based at the UNSW Psychology Clinic.

Specific responsibilities for this role include:

  • Supervise Master of Psychology postgraduate trainees on placement and Clinical Psychologist Registrar at the UNSW Psychology Clinic.
  • Oversee assessment and treatment of clients being provided by trainees in the UNSW Psychology Clinic.
  • Review and co-sign client related clinical documentation prepared by trainees.
  • Provide training and continuing education activities to trainees via supervision and skills demonstration.
  • Evaluate competency and skills development of trainees on placement.
  • Provide supervisory cover in the UNSW Psychology Clinic as dictated by availability.
  • Participate in and contribute to relevant quality improvement programs and governance meetings associated with the UNSW Psychology Clinic.
  • Ensure high levels of professional and ethical standards are adhered to within the UNSW Psychology Clinic.
  • Align with and actively demonstrate the UNSW Values in Action: Our Behaviours and the UNSW Code of Conduct.
  • Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of yourself or others.

About the successful applicant

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Completion of postgraduate level Clinical Psychology training accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (or international equivalent).
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Psychologist with endorsement in the area of Clinical Psychology.
  • Board-approved Supervisor recognised by the Psychology Board of Australia.
  • Over 5 years of demonstrated clinical experience post qualification.
  • Demonstrated experience in supervision of Provisional Psychologists undergoing postgraduate training in Clinical Psychology.
  • Demonstrated strong clinical skills, especially in the areas of adult psychological therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and trauma focused interventions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
