As a member of the UNSW IT Testing Services Team, the Tester will be accountable for the planning, monitoring, and execution of the testing activities and tasks. The Tester will define the test objectives, apply organisational test policies, create Test Plan where applicable, plus plan and execute test scenarios.
The role reports to Manager, Testing Services and has no direct reports.
Skills and Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in IT or related discipline together with 5+ years’ experience in software testing, including an industry recognised certification such as ISTQB Foundation.
- Demonstrated experience in software testing including preparation of test cases, execution of tests and reporting of defects.
- A healthy sense of scepticism in interpreting functional requirements and creating test cases.
- Sound knowledge of software testing techniques and processes.
- Familiar with appropriate project methodologies.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Exposure to automated testing tools and methods and demonstrated experience in participation in the defect management process.
- A broad understanding of the IT development lifecycle. An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training
