Senior Lecturer – Co Director of Medical Education (South West Sydney Clinical Campus)

  • Employment Type: Part - time (17.5 hours a week)
  • Duration: Continuing
  • Remuneration: $155k - $178k base prorated, plus clinical loading, 17% superannuation and leave loading
  • Work rights required: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Candidates must hold full rights to work in Australia to be considered for this position.
  • Location: Bankstown Hospital, Sydney

The South West Sydney Clinical Campuses comprise the UNSW efforts at Liverpool, Bankstown, Campbelltown, Fairfield and Braeside in the south west of Sydney. We work closely with local clinical facilities and the Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research across south western Sydney. The Clinical Campus is focused on further developing the educational and research opportunities for UNSW students, staff and conjoints across the south west. The campus is also home to the state-of-the-art South West Sydney Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre. 

The Opportunity

This position will act as the Co-Director of Medical Student Education at the South Western Sydney Clinical School and support the Teaching Team at south western Sydney. The position will also assist with administration and development of the Phase 2 teaching programs and provide clinical support to the School’s teaching administration staff in the orientation of new students, the coordination of Phase 2 programs and examinations. The role of Senior Lecturer reports to the South West Sydney Head of Clinical Campus and has no direct reports.

Skills and Experience

  • A degree and/or PhD in a relevant field (i.e.MBBS or MD) with medical registration in Australia, and/or relevant work experience.
  • Possession of Fellowship from a relevant medical college.
  • Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design using a range of pedagogical approaches, development and delivery of courses and programs, at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence and fostering this in others.
  • Demonstrated success in initiating curriculum development and improvement.
  • Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity diversity and inclusion initiatives.
  • Demonstrated track record in research with outcomes of high quality and high impact with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence as well as the capacity for research leadership.
