The Organisation

The School of Health Sciences at UNSW is rapidly expanding to service our new health professional programs across the disciplines of exercise, physiotherapy, pharmacy and nutrition and dietetics. Our programs will see the scope of our teaching effort broaden significantly and shape the future Health workforce in Australia and beyond.

Why this role matters:

The Lecturer / Senior Lecturer will make a significant contribution to the development and delivery of Nutrition and Dietetics in the Bachelor of Nutrition / Master of Dietetics and Food Innovation program.

We are seeking to appoint both teaching & research and/education focused for academic Accredited Practising Dietitians across a breadth of practice areas.  We are interested in individuals with an interest or expertise in Food Service / Culinary Science, Nutritional Science, Individual Case Management and Research. Part-time appointments may be considered.

The position will report to the Dietetics Discipline Lead and the Head of School and does not include direct supervisory responsibilities.

Skills Required (for all positions):

At Level B

  • A PhD in Nutrition, Dietetics or other related health disciplines
  • Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) or qualifications recognised by Dietitians Australia and willingness to seek accreditation as an APD.
  • Proven commitment to proactive maintenance of discipline knowledge and development
  • Experience in teaching and learning design using a range of pedagogical approaches, development and delivery of courses and programs, at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
  • Experience of implementing educational technologies and online delivery methods
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with the profession and industry and emerging understanding and success to attract funding for research (may include education research)
  • Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity diversity and inclusion initiatives.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.

For Teaching and Research positions:

  • Research outputs commensurate with a strong performing early career researcher.

At Level C (in addition to above)

For all positions

  • Significant experience in teaching and learning design using a range of pedagogical approaches, development and delivery of courses and programs, at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
  • Demonstrated success in initiating curriculum development and improvement, and a strong track record of teaching excellence including fostering this in others.

For Level C Teaching and Research Positions

  • Demonstrated track record in research with outcomes of high quality and high impact with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence as well as the capacity for research leadership.
