Why this role matters:

The Senior Exercise Physiologist will serve as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) at Addi Moves, located at the Addison Road Community Centre, supporting individuals from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds, culturally diverse communities, and those facing social disadvantage. This role involves promoting and developing the Addi Moves program, contributing to research projects, and overseeing quality control. Additionally, the Senior Exercise Physiologist will supervise exercise physiology student placements and work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver exercise interventions aimed at enhancing participants' wellbeing and lifestyle behaviours.

The Senior Exercise Physiologist will report to the Scientia Associate Professor and has no direct reports.

Skills Required:

  • Degree in Exercise Physiology or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Hold Accreditation from Exercise and Sport Science Australia (ESSA) with at least 2-years subsequent relevant experience.
  • Experience preferred in evidence-based exercise prescription for people with lived experience of mental health issues and working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations.
  • Previous research support experience preferred including data collection and analysis.
  • Ability to work cooperatively within a team as well as independently with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills including demonstrated capacity to maintain effective professional relationships with a variety of stakeholders and from diverse backgrounds.
  • Sound stakeholder management skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
