Why your role matters

Join UNSW as the Project Manager, Learning & Digital Environments, and play a pivotal role in enhancing physical learning environments, including teaching, learning, and student-led spaces. In this role, you'll lead and manage projects that drive continuous improvement, supporting both the Senior Manager, Learning & Digital Environments, and the Director, Educational Delivery, while independently working to enrich the student experience within UNSW's Learning Environments.

Key responsibilities include developing and managing a project pipeline, identifying and scoping project opportunities, exploring feasibilities, generating options, and identifying and managing risks. You'll provide specialist advice rooted in technical understanding and practical experience, ensuring the successful execution of projects. Building and maintaining strong working relationships with a diverse range of staff and departments across UNSW's divisions and faculties is crucial to this role.

Specific accountabilities for this role include:  

  • Manage and coordinate the various stages of Learning Environment projects to ensure that project management functions are effectively coordinated across UNSW teams, including but not limited to, identifying project opportunities, exploring feasibilities, generating options, developing scope and identifying risks, the preparation of project estimates, appropriate management of budgets and timelines, and generation of reports.
  • Manage and coordinate the space audits of centrally managed teaching spaces and student led spaces, generating practical space change options to help improve the demand, supply and utilisation of the physical learning environments.
  • Contribute to Portfolio, Division and University planning and projects.
  • Ensure Learning Environments projects and protocols are managed within required policy, procedural, regulatory and legislative parameters.

About You:       
You will hold a relevant tertiary qualification with substantial relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience relevant to the project management and continuous improvement of technology enabled tertiary learning spaces would be a distinct advantage alongside:

  • Strong administration and project coordination skills with demonstrated success in improving processes/workflow, developing administrative systems and procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience and successful application of best practice in learning space design principles, design standards, trends and digital integrations that contribute to the continuous improvement of teaching and learning spaces in contribution to a quality UNSW student experience.
  • Proven experience in the successful delivery of high-quality project management and coordination, including planning, analysis, implementation, budget and resource management and reporting. Familiarity with PRINCE2 and AGILE methodologies or related experience preferred.
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills with the demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective collaborative professional relationships with staff at all levels (including professional and academic staff) and internal and external stakeholders/vendors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced including project and initiative evaluations, recommendations and reports.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively, positively and independently in multidisciplinary teams with the capacity to take responsibility, exercise independent judgement and proactively address and resolve complex problems as they arise in a “client-customer” focussed environment often with rigid constraints.
